What is Service Times?
From June-August Worship we have Worship every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
WHAT IS TRADITIONAL WORSHIP?
As its name suggests, Traditional Worship is a reverent service featuring hymns, prayers, scripture reading, special music, and a sermon by one of our pastors. The special music is provided by our many vocal and handbell choirs. The five vocal choirs and 6 handbell choirs rotate through these services on a monthly basis. Communion is held weekly at our traditional services.
WHO CAN TAKE COMMUNION?
The United Methodist Church has an open table policy. If you are a believing Christian from any background you are invited to partake of the Lord’s Supper. Children are free to partake at their parents’ discretion.
WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN IN WORSHIP?
Children are always welcome in worship. There is also a nursery available for children birth to 3 years old from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. on Sunday mornings during Worship and Sunday School. Our nursery team cares for the children in a safe and loving environment.
At the 10:00 a.m. service, children are invited to come to the altar for a special Children’s Message. Children 4 through 2nd grade are welcome to depart the sanctuary following the pastor’s message and attend Children’s Worship. In Children’s Worship, they experience Bible lessons, songs, crafts, and games. For more information on children’s worship click here.
HOW SHOULD I DRESS?
To be honest, you should dress however you are comfortable. Some people are very casual and others dress up. You will see both.
HOW DO I GET THERE?
St. Matthew’s address is 8617 Little River Turnpike and it sits at the intersection of Little River Turnpike and Wakefield Drive. Access to our parking lot is from Wakefield Drive.
WHERE DO I PARK?
There is parking on three sides of our church building. The parking lot is accessed from Wakefield Drive.
WHAT ABOUT HANDICAPPED ACCESS?
A handicapped entrance and parking are located at the back of our church building. The back parking area is easy to enter from Virginia Avenue, the road that runs along the back of our church.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I WALK IN THE DOORS?
When you walk in the front or back doors of our church, you will be welcomed by our greeting team. If this is your first visit to St. Matthew’s, please come to our Welcome Desk located just outside the Sanctuary doors. There a member of our welcome team can direct you to Sunday school classes, the nursery, and other small group opportunities.
