Great news!!
We are starting up blood drives again at the church on Sunday, October 4th. All the rules of attending church services are in effect, so please monitor the monthly newsletter and weekly emails for updates on those procedures. Inova will require you to wear a mask, even if the church rules change before then. The drive is from 7:30-11:45 a.m. taking 2 people every 15 minutes. We will be using the blood mobile but check-in will be in the choir room or, weather permitting, under a tent next to the playground (look for blood drive arrows throughout church). Inova will perform extra cleaning including wiping down beds, clipboards, and all “touchable” surfaces between donors and checking their staff's temperature throughout the morning. For safety reasons, we are asking everyone to signup beforehand and come only at your scheduled time. There may be some limited capacity for accepting walk-ins, but signing up beforehand helps with maintaining proper social distancing. Many of you may not yet be comfortable with giving, or giving in the blood mobile. We completely understand and respect your decision. But we thank you for all your previous donations and we will look forward to seeing you at a future blood drive. Inova Blood Donor Services will be testing all successful blood donations for the COVID-19 antibody. This test will be performed in addition to the standard testing on all blood donations received. This test is for detecting the presence of antibodies against SARS-Co V-2 and is not intended for diagnosis or treatment of COVID-19. 72-96 hours post donation – donors will receive an email alerting them if they are negative. Should the donor’s test result come back POSITIVE – they will receive a telephone call directly from a IBDS Leadership Team Member.
